I work from the origin. From the roots that come from before me, the stories I have lived and the cultures I met while travelling — and from the origin of life, that enigma which art, like nature, never stops re-enacting.
I began with photography and it is still how I reach things: a drop suspended in a web, cracked stone, a reflection dissolving a tree in the water, the smell of earth after rain. But an image is never enough for me. So I stitch photographs together with thread, cut fungi out of paper, shape small forms in clay, take the image back to the chemistry of cyanotype and earth-toned prints, and place myself before the camera — behind a glass of water that distorts my face, my hair turning into roots.
I do not think of these media as separate languages. They are states of the same matter. What interests me is the moment when it sits between one form and another: transformed, or transforming. The feminine, finitude, the chaos that gives way to origin, the duality of being — all of it passes through the body before it becomes work.
I move between science, physics, spirituality and emotion. I believe that nature, the senses, colours, sounds and forms are invisible bonds that join us to a single universe, and that every being and every gesture reverberates within it. My work tries to make visible that constant dance between fragility and strength, chaos and order — and to remember that the connections that matter are still the ones that do not pass through a screen.
