Shadow and Light
2015—2022 · 16 works
The largest and most heterogeneous series, and that breadth is what defines it: it brings together the Amazon forest, the dark water of the igarapés, fish at the market and a city wall scratched by power lines. What holds such distant images together is not place but agent — light that arrives, delays, passes through or refuses.
In Luz Divina a single leaf is lit on the dark forest floor. In Fios, the shadow of cables draws on plaster what photography would normally discard. In Torar and Seca, both in black and white, the artist gives up colour — her strongest tool — to leave only structure. It is the series where the photographer appears most as someone observing and least as someone composing.
