The Lençóis Maranhenses are the declared subject, but not the landscape. The artist works systematically against the postcard: she frames so close, or so high, that geographic reference is lost and what remains is the relation between two materials — sand and water — divided by a line that shifts every day.
Most of the works are square, 100 × 100 cm, a format that refuses landscape horizontality and returns the image to the condition of surface. In Duo and Camuflagem the dune is a diagonal; in Oásis and Miragem, a curve biting into water; in Caminhos, only the drawing the wind left behind. The title holds the operation: dunes cover and uncover, and to photograph is to arrive in the instant between one and the other.
